MISTEE HIGHTOWER-GUZMAN (SHE/HER)

Vinyasa Flow

Mistee began her yoga journey in 2019 at Castro Valley Yoga. As a lifelong learner, she began the Advanced Studies Program 200-hour training at Castro Valley Yoga and received her certification in 2022. As a former dancer and competitive dance choreographer, Mistee has found the transition to an asana and meditation practice to be a beneficial one.

In her day job, Mistee is a middle school principal. She earned her masters degree from UC Berkeley (go Bears!). She is also a mother to a young daughter. Mistee hopes that bearing witness to her mother's journey of personal growth will inspire her daughter on her own path. Mistee is honored to join this amazing community of teachers all the while continuing as a student.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR CLASSES AT PRANA?

  • Yes. It's a lot of old school R&B with some pop thrown in for good measure. Singing along is a good way to ensure breath and keep you distracted from staying in chair pose or plank.

  • I keep it cool with good air flow.

  • Yoga and meditation have helped me keep grounded. And when I end up left or right of my center, they are good tools to get me back on track.

  • Happy, flexible, strong

  • Balancing half moon into sugar cane
